Something I learned today

Did you know that there is a virus that infects dogs, wolves and cats-parvovirus-and is deadly to puppies. Parvovirus is thus named because parvus means small in Latin and parvo is a tiny virus made up of one strand of genes, hence the name. There is one type of parvovirus that can infect humans, and that is Parvovirus B19, which causes a rash, fifth disease or slapped-cheek syndrome. I learnt all that from the book: Virals by Kathy Reichs. This is a really good book, especially if you like forensic science, action, adventure and lots of excitement!
