Dracula

For all you strange people who haven't read Dracula, (which seems to be half the population judging from my friends) you need to read it! As soon as you can get your clean (hopefully) little mitts on a copy! I think Bram Stoker based Dracula on Vlad the Impaler, who was a blood thirsty ruler in the fourteen hundreds. He was called the Impaler because her liked to kill people by impaling his enemies on blunt wooden stakes. Vlad was actually called Vlad Dracula because his father changed his name to Dracul when her joined a gang. Dracul means dragon, and dracula means the son of Dracul. But apart from all that Vlad was a fair and just ruler. Lots of people also think that Stoker also based his book on Elizabeth Bathory, who was know for killing about one hundred young girls because she was extremely vain and once when a servant cut herself a drop of blood fell on Bathory's skin and when she wiped off the blood she thought that the skin looked fresher. She then started torturing young girls then killing them. Over time this tale has been embellished to the point where she actually drank the blood and killed hundreds of people! From left to right: Dracula, book cover. Elizabeth Bathory. Vlad the Impaler!
